According to German statistics, since 2016, China has become Germany's largest trading partner in the world. In the second quarter of this year, China became Germany's largest export market.

At the regular online press conference held by the Ministry of Commerce on the same day, Gao Feng said that the rapid development of Sino-German trade is not only due to the good bilateral relations and complementary economic advantages between the two countries, but also to China's continuous expansion of opening up. The pattern of Sino-German trade development is the result of win-win cooperation between enterprises of the two countries in accordance with market-oriented principles and WTO rules, and meets the market needs of both sides.

Gao Feng said that since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus pneumonia, China and Germany have actively carried out cooperation in medical materials, strengthened macroeconomic policy coordination, facilitated the cross-border flow of people and goods, and created favorable conditions for the stable development of Sino-German trade. On the evening of September 14, leaders of China, Germany and Europe held a video meeting, which pointed out the direction for the development of China-EU relations in the next stage. We are willing to work with the German side to earnestly implement the important consensus reached by the leaders, promote the upgrading of China-Germany and China-EU economic and trade cooperation, release more development opportunities, and inject new impetus into the global economic recovery.
