As intelligentization and electrification trends reshape the global automotive industry landscape, China-Germany cooperation in automotive engineering, design innovation, and green transformation continues to deepen. On August 4 (local time), at a Sino-German automotive industry exchange event held in Munich, capital of Germany's Bavaria State, political and economic figures from both countries reviewed their decade-long cooperation across technology, design, and industrial chains.

Hubert Aiwanger, Deputy Minister-President of Bavaria and State Minister of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy, stated in his speech: "The automotive industry is undergoing a critical transformation. Facing fierce global competition, we must address challenges through technological innovation rather than trade barriers. Superior technology ultimately prevails—artificial restrictions only lead to technological backwardness. Therefore, the Bavarian government firmly opposes high tariffs, including the EU's punitive tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles. Through fair competition, we can jointly identify optimal solutions. Bavaria's close cooperation with Chinese industries demonstrates how far collaboration can advance. Today, Chinese automakers rank among the world's top tier—not only in drivetrain technology but also in driver-assistance systems, modern battery technology, and various automotive innovations. The success of Chinese automakers in Germany over the past decade has been remarkable, and we will continue working together to extend this partnership."

Qiu Xuejun, Chinese Consul General in Munich, emphasized: "Sino-German economic and trade cooperation forms the cornerstone of bilateral relations. Currently, over 12,000 German enterprises operate in China, while more than 2,000 Chinese companies—including about 500 in Bavaria—have established operations in Germany. These enterprises serve as both witnesses and contributors to our cooperation. Facing electrification and intelligentization trends, companies from both nations are deepening collaboration in green mobility:The past decade witnessed steady progress in Germany's innovation sector and expanding Sino-German cooperation.

Increasing numbers of Chinese high-tech firms regard Bavaria as a strategic gateway for innovation, partnering with German companies in production, R&D, and other fields. The convergence of global creative talent here has spawned internationally influential products and design concepts. This not only showcases China's EV innovation capabilities but also injects new momentum into green transportation cooperation. Looking ahead, Sino-German collaboration in EVs and related fields will yield greater achievements and reach new milestones."

Zhang Hui, senior executive at a Chinese automaker, reflected: "Our decade in Europe has built not only technological capabilities and R&D networks but, more importantly, foundations of trust. Innovation isn't unilateral—it's about co-creating the future: We've established enduring partnerships with European universities, startups, governments, and suppliers.Beyond manufacturing, we've fostered mutual confidence. The coming decade will bring greater responsibilities alongside opportunities in AI, battery revolution, and green infrastructure."

Kurt Kapp, Director of Munich Business Promotion, asserted: "Trade barriers distort competition. We should minimize tariffs to facilitate global innovation. Sino-German cooperation holds particular promise in digitalization and autonomous driving:All tariffs inherently hinder free competition and economic growth. China has become an essential technological partner. In free markets, superior technologies naturally converge. Autonomous driving represents the most promising collaborative frontier."

Frank Volkert, reporter from Germany's Automobilwoche, noted: "The German industry's primary concern isn't tariffs per se but the strategic uncertainty they create. The sector now races to match 'China speed':Suppliers fear trade barriers may force production shifts to America, risking tens of thousands of jobs. Planning suffers from persistent uncertainty. Companies increasingly recognize that cooperation bridges capability gaps.Accelerating localization of Chinese technologies fosters partnerships.

German manufacturers now openly collaborate with Chinese firms—a genuine win-win scenario." Amid global green transition and technological acceleration, China-Germany automotive collaboration is evolving from traditional manufacturing toward intelligent and sustainable futures. As participants agreed: Technological cooperation, market openness, and customer-centric approaches will propel the China-Germany automotive industry into its next 'Golden Decade'.
