On July 17, 2025, the Chinese Embassy in Germany held a reception to celebrate the 98th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA). Approximately 300 guests attended the event, including German government representatives, figures from various sectors, diplomatic envoys and military attachés from multiple countries in Germany, and overseas Chinese. Ambassador Deng Hongbo was present, and Defense Attaché Major General Wu Junhui delivered a speech.​

Major General Wu Junhui stated that throughout the 98 years since its founding, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, the People’s Liberation Army has made outstanding contributions to national independence and liberation, as well as to the country’s construction and development, while playing a crucial role in safeguarding world peace. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in both the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, and China will solemnly commemorate this historic occasion. The Chinese military has actively participated in international peacekeeping missions, Gulf of Aden escort operations, international rescue efforts, and other activities, demonstrating its responsibilities as a major country. China stands ready to work with Germany to fully implement the consensus reached by both countries’ leaders and to promote further development in bilateral military relations.​

During the reception, organizers presented an electronic photo exhibition titled “Guarding Peace, Sharing a Common Destiny” and screened a military documentary. Attendees praised China’s developmental achievements and the Chinese military’s positive contributions to maintaining world peace.
