On July 9th, Ambassador Deng Hongbo met with Rainer, the German Federal Minister of Agriculture, Food and Homeland. The two sides exchanged views in a friendly manner on China-Germany agricultural cooperation and issues of common concern.

Ambassador Deng congratulated Rainer on his appointment as Federal Minister of Agriculture. He stated that both China and Germany are major economies and agricultural powers with complementary advantages and mutual needs in the agricultural sector. Strengthening pragmatic agricultural cooperation between the two countries serves their common interests and contributes to China-EU and international cooperation. China is willing to work with Germany to deepen exchanges in areas such as institutional development, young talent cultivation, demonstration projects, and scientific and technological innovation, thereby continuously improving the quality and efficiency of bilateral agricultural cooperation and contributing to the development of the China-Germany comprehensive strategic partnership.

Rainer stated that Germany has always considered China an important cooperative partner and highly values the agricultural exchanges and cooperation between the two countries. Germany is willing to continue the mutually beneficial tradition, expand and deepen cooperation across various fields, and jointly address global challenges. As each other’s most important trading partners, Germany hopes to expand exports of its high-quality agricultural products to China. Rainer welcomed China to send a delegation to participate in the 2026 Berlin Green Week.
