On June 5, 2024, the Embassy of China in Austria held a friendly networking event themed “Remembering the Past to Achieve a Long-Term Future” as part of the Summer Festival.Ambassador Qi Mei of China to Austria; Heinz Fischer, former President of Austria and President of the Austria-China Friendship Association; and other friends from various sectors in Austria, as well as senior diplomats of the embassy, attended the event.

In her speech, Ambassador Qi Mei said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Austria 53 years ago, the two countries have bridged differences in ideology and social systems and become contributors to and maintainers of friendly cooperation between China and Austria.President Xi Jinping pointed out during his visit to Europe that China and Europe should uphold the partnership orientation, engage in dialogue and cooperation, promote the stable and healthy development of China-Europe relations, and continue to make new contributions to world peace and development.
Fischer said that current global geopolitical conflicts occur frequently, deeply affecting the thoughts and emotions of people in Europe and other regions, and that we need to draw lessons from history, maintain rationality, and work together to resolve global challenges.
Professor Richard of the University of Vienna shared his touching story of 50-year-long exchanges with China and showed photos taken in China.
