The National Immigration Administration announced on June 12, 2025, that citizens of Indonesia are now eligible for the 240-hour visa-free transit policy, facilitating easier visits to China.With this addition, the number of countries eligible for China’s 240-hour visa-free transit policy has increased to 55.

Citizens from these 55 countries—including Indonesia, Russia, and the United Kingdom—holding valid international travel documents and confirmed connecting tickets with fixed dates and seats may transit through China to a third country or region. They can enter visa-free via any of the 60 designated ports across 24 provinces (such as Beijing and Shanghai) and stay within designated areas for no more than 10 days.During their stay, they may engage in tourism, business, personal visits, or family reunions; activities requiring prior approval (e.g., work, study, or news reporting) still require a visa.

According to an official from the National Immigration Administration, adding Indonesia to the list of eligible countries is an important measure to implement the spirit of the Central Conference on Neighboring Countries Work and to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with ASEAN countries.This move sustains positive momentum in China-Indonesia cooperation, facilitates trade and investment efficiency, and fosters cultural exchanges and people-to-people bonds.

In the next step, the National Immigration Administration will deepen institutional reforms in immigration management, optimize visa-free entry and exit policies for foreigners, and improve the convenience of traveling and living in China for foreign nationals.With more high-quality management and service measures, China welcomes more foreign friends to visit.

‌Oceania (2 countries)‌: Australia, New Zealand.

‌Asia (7 countries)‌: South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Brunei, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Indonesia.

Additionally, since June 9, 2025, China has implemented a visa-free policy for Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, and Bahrain, valid until June 8, 2026.Meanwhile, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, and Uruguay also benefit from visa-free entry from June 1, 2025, to May 31, 2026.
