On November 14th, the Ministry of Education held a press conference to introduce the relevant information about the 2024 World Vocational and Technical Education Development Conference. Peng Binbai, Director of the Vocational and Adult Education Department of the Ministry of Education, stated at the meeting that currently, more than 200 vocational colleges and universities in 27 provinces across the country have established over 400 educational institutions and projects in cooperation with 70 countries and regions. Vocational education has become a driving force in China's international education cooperation.

 

 

Peng Binbai introduced that the next step will focus on four aspects of work:

Firstly, we will deeply promote the opening-up of education, coordinate the "bringing in" and "going out" strategies, and effectively implement international cooperation projects in vocational education such as the "Lu Ban Workshop", continuously enhancing China's international influence, competitiveness, and discourse power in education.

Secondly, we will carry out top-level design. Following the approach of "grasping both ends and streamlining the middle", we will take ASEAN and Central Asia as pilot regions to drive cooperation with "Belt and Road" countries and regions in Africa and beyond, compiling a list of overseas cooperative education projects for Chinese vocational colleges and universities by region and country to achieve orderly layout and development.

Thirdly, we will formulate relevant standards. We will introduce standards for overseas educational conditions, professional standards, talent cultivation standards, and professional qualification certification standards in vocational education, thereby effectively promoting Chinese education, ideas, and values.

Lastly, we will promote quality improvement and upgrading. We will standardize existing cooperation projects, strengthen the integration of various international cooperative education brand projects, enrich professional settings, add majors such as Chinese culture, traditional Chinese medicine, and Chinese economics, and create conditions to cooperate with high-level overseas universities in vocational education. By promoting the quality improvement and upgrading of overseas vocational education projects, we will further enhance the level of service for international capacity cooperation.
