On December 5, 2024, the Chinese Embassy in Germany held the launching ceremony for the Germany station of the important initiative "Doubling Europe". Ambassador Deng Hongbo and Vice Minister of Education Wang Guangyan attended and addressed the ceremony, which was also participated by more than 200 representatives from Chinese and German educational institutions, as well as German university, high school, and primary school students.

In his speech, Ambassador Deng emphasized that the foundation of Sino-German relations lies in the people, and the future lies in the youth. President Xi Jinping attaches great importance to youth exchanges, and during his visit to Europe in May this year, he proposed the important initiative to "double the scale of European youth exchanges to China within the next three years," expressing his earnest hopes for further expanding youth exchanges between China and Germany, as well as China and Europe. This will undoubtedly push both sides to write a new chapter in educational exchange and cooperation. German youth are welcomed to actively participate in this initiative, enhance their understanding of China, become civilian ambassadors of Sino-German friendship, and make greater contributions to the friendship between the two countries and people-to-people connectivity.

Vice Minister Wang spoke highly of the long-standing role of Sino-German people-to-people exchanges in promoting bilateral relations and stressed that China will take the launching ceremony of the Germany station as a new starting point to fully implement President Xi's important initiative of "doubling the scale in Europe," pushing Sino-German youth exchanges to a higher level and creating new brilliance in people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. He hoped that more German youth would visit China and contribute their vibrant youth energy to the bright future of both countries.

The guests at the ceremony thanked the Chinese side for launching the "doubling the scale in Europe" initiative in Berlin and expressed their hope that German youth would actively participate in the initiative, experience Chinese customs and culture firsthand, cultivate their "China competence," and build more bridges between the two countries.
