Starting from February 1, 2005, the German Embassy in China's Approval Department for Persons Studying in Germany (APS) has been responsible for verifying the authenticity of the academic qualifications of Chinese applicants who plan to study in Austria. Applicants can apply to Austrian universities (comprehensive universities, higher professional universities, higher professional university departments, seminaries, private universities and research institutes) with audit certificates.

Chinese students who wish to study in Austria should submit their academic materials to the audit department for review and attend an interview (in most cases) before applying to Austrian universities or other universities in Austria. Interviews are held at the Shanghai Audit Department at specific times every year, and the interview language is German and/or English.

Studying in Austria - College Entrance Examination Procedure ( Application Instructions for the College Entrance Examination Procedure for Studying in Austria ) is suitable for applicants who plan to study for an undergraduate degree in related majors in Austria after taking the Chinese College Entrance Examination.

The Audit Procedures for Studying in Austria ( Instructions for Audit of Materials for Studying in Austria ) include scholarship students, doctoral students, and people who meet the Personengruppenverordnung regulations

The Audit Procedures for Studying in Austria for Pure Arts ( Instructions for the Audit Procedures for Pure Arts in Austria ) is only for applicants who have studied (passed) art/music majors in China and applied to Austrian art or music universities.

International students who have studied in China and still reside in China; And international students who have studied in China but no longer reside in China

Graduates of Chinese universities who currently reside in China

Graduates of Chinese universities with residency outside of China

Please note that the audit department only accepts and reviews transcripts, enrollment certificates, graduation certificates, degree certificates, etc. from universities recognized by the Ministry of Education of China.

Non-Chinese applicants who have completed the high school entrance examination but are unable to take the college entrance examination in China should directly contact the Austrian university you wish to apply for. APS cannot review your materials.

After the audit department receives complete materials, the interview time will be notified via system email.

Application Steps

1. After Applying and Submitting Materials

After finished the Online Registration , please mail the print online registration certificate together with a 2-inch ID photo within 6 months and relevant application materials to the audit department. For a detailed list of application materials, please refer to the various audit instructions for studying abroad in Austria.

Please note that the application materials you mail must be filed in the audit department and will not be returned! The TestAS exam is not available for Austrian applicants.

2. Remittance of Audit Fee

The audit fee is RMB 2,500 (interview) or RMB 1,000 (material audit only), and must be remitted to the audit department account.

3. Audit

After the audit department has reviewed the applicant's materials, the applicant will be invited to the audit department office for an interview. Successful candidates in the interview will receive ten Austrian study audit certificates issued by the audit department. This audit certificate is only available for applications to study in Austria. Audit certificates from Germany, Belgium and Switzerland cannot be used to apply to study in Austria. With this certificate, Chinese students can apply for admission to Austrian universities or other higher education institutions.
